Perfect timing...NOT

Date nights in this house are a rare occurrence.  Jason and I would like it to be different but the free time and a free babysitter just never seems to match up.  Plus we really like being with our kiddos.  Well, we finally managed to have a fun date night set up.  Well, actually, lets be honest.  We didn't set it up at all, my brother bought me tickets to see a comedian as a birthday present, so it was his doing.  We were so excited and patiently waited the three weeks to pass for our big night out.  The day finally arrived and we even had arranged for the kids to have a sleepover!  At noon we went to my dad's house and everyone was fine, when we left two hours later Ashley seemed tired so I figured she might take a little nap.  During the one mile drive home Ash managed to spike a 102 fever.  REALLY!?!  Of all the days!  She rarely gets sick and if she had to why couldn't it wait another 12 hours??  Is that really too much to ask?  I was BUMMED to say the least.  But the night wasn't a total wash because my sweet husband told me to go with my sister and we had a great time.  It wasn't the date night I imagined but it was still lots of fun and it gave me the dose of grown up time that I was seriously in need of.

Ash was still sick Sunday so we all hung around the house like lazy bums, which is always fun until the day is over and you feel like you did nothing and your Sunday just went down the drain.  Apparently being a lazy bum also turns you into an uncoordinated fool.  As I was picking up the house to get ready for bed time I walked straight into the baby swing- how does one do this you might ask, I really have no answers for you.  You would assume a 3 foot high swing rocking back and forth would be large enough for you to know you have to walk AROUND it.  I guess I was feeling like I had super human powers and could just walk right through it.  I was quickly reminded when my non-super-human toe felt like it was decapitated.  As Jason asked me several times what I did I sounded like I was speaking in tongues trying to explain it to him.  After a few minutes of biting my tongue and fighting the urge to throw the swing out the window I got back to my nightly pick up.  I emptied the kitchen trash and had it ready to go in the garage when I turned around and what do you know, somehow I managed to kick my toe in to something hard in the trash bag that separated the battered little piggy from the rest of the pack causing even more pain. LOVELY!  Now things were really hurting and I watched my pinky piggy quickly put on some weight as it swelled up.  I headed to bed with an ice pack (from Jason's unplanned wisdom teeth extraction last week).  I was hoping I could get some ice on my foot so I could wake up feeling like I could walk.  Well, Colin had another plan.  The weirdo decided to scream for 20 minutes for no reason, who does that??? haha  I know he just wanted me to walk around holding him but there was no way that was going to happen.  I could just see myself hobbling around the house holding him and somehow managing to throw my back out in the process.  Finally the little guy got tired enough and hungry enough from all the screaming and crazy arm throwing that he took his bottle and hit the hay.

The kicker is this morning Jason tried to cuddle before the alarm went off and for some reason felt the need to squeeze my bum foot with his two feet which caused me to wake up very grumpy wondering why he would ever try to do that.  Poor guy, just trying to be nice and I yelled at him like a crazy person- sorry Jas!  I guess the one good thing is Ash is still hanging in bed today so I don't have to try to run around and play with her with my bruised and swollen foot.

I'm telling you, you might want to stay far away from this family right now.  We are falling apart.  Emergency tooth extractions, hives, teething, hurt feet, the flu, SO FUN!  I'm hoping we're just getting it all out of the way before the holidays :-)  Hope you're all having a much better Monday.
